Cost Accountant | Norton Shores, MI

Salary Range: $70,000 - $104,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
• Perform detailed variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and report findings.
• Manage inventory costing, valuation, and reconciliation for work-in-process and finished goods.
• Prepare accurate product cost reports to support pricing decisions and profitability analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic cost forecasts.
• Identify and analyze cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements within manufacturing processes.
• Conduct month-end closing activities related to cost of goods sold and inventory accounts.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods, and variance analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify cost drivers, and provide actionable insights.

Bonus Qualifications

• Deep understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) related to manufacturing modules
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or process improvement methodologies
• Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
• Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data extraction and analysis
