Cost Accountant | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $64,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including labor, material, and overhead.
• Develop, maintain, and update standard costs for all products and components.
• Perform detailed variance analysis between actual and standard costs, providing explanations and insights.
• Manage and reconcile inventory accounts, ensuring accurate valuation and control.
• Prepare and present comprehensive cost reports and profitability analyses to management.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process and provide accurate cost forecasts.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction initiatives and process improvements within manufacturing operations.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP system implementation or optimization projects.
• Certification or practical experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Proficiency in advanced data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Exposure to supply chain finance and inventory optimization strategies.
• Project management experience related to cost reduction initiatives.
